GIBRALTAR
THE VIEW
This "island" is 3 miles long and 1/2 mile
wide. It is home to 30,000 plus (humans) and 250 plus Barbary
Apes.
ALL of the fresh water on Gibraltar is obtained from
desalinization. And expensive process, but it assures Gibraltar's
continued independance from Spain (still hotly contended). This
picture below is the watershed "field" (actually, the
west slope) which is being dismantled because it did not supply
the total needs of the inhabitants of the "Rock".
The Port of Algeciras across the bay.
Looking north from inside the tunnels towards La Linea.
The Gibraltar airstrip extends east to west and unofficially defines
the border (which is just 100 yards further north.
