The long way back to I-80 was a road not recommended for winter travel...not only by the signs, but by the appearance and the warnings from the locals....too muddy (and it was 26 miles of mud). At that time, the snow had turned to light rain which we drove in and out of with threatening clouds on the horizon for dozens of miles.


By the time we reached SR 93, the dark clouds had gone the other way

...the sun shone and we headed north to Idaho. But not before stopping to get extra fuel filters and to find this VERY interesting story:
